SITUATION

Tempest 1 captured Northeast Airfield but was unable to clear Krasnostav or Khelm. Both settlements remain under separatist control and threaten the captured foothold. Tempest 2 will defend the airfield and expand government control over the surrounding sector. The separatists receive support from a network linked to the Butcher. The airfield is a suspected regional headquarters and transit point for his organization, although his personal presence remains unconfirmed. Intelligence indicates an enemy communications position on Klen and a suspected courier staging site in Olsha. Valkyrie will attempt C-130 reinforcement flights into the airfield. Civilians may remain in the settlements. Chernarussian government forces are friendly.

MISSION

On April 10, 1999, Tempest 2 defends Northeast Airfield for 30 minutes, protects Valkyrie reinforcement flights, clears Krasnostav and Khelm, seizes the Klen communications position, and secures the suspected courier staging site in Olsha to assist the Chernarussian government and disrupt the Butcher's regional network.

EXECUTION

COMMANDER'S INTENT Hold the airfield, receive reinforcements, and clear nearby separatist positions while preserving civilian infrastructure and recovering intelligence. OBJ FOXTROT - DEFEND NORTHEAST AIRFIELD Establish security around the runway, hangars, and approaches. Defend the airfield for 30 minutes. Command announces the start and completion of the defensive period. Stabilize the perimeter before beginning follow-on operations. VALKYRIE - REINFORCEMENT AIRLIFT Attempt C-130 landings when ground forces confirm the runway is clear. Successful deliveries simulate the arrival of armored assets, Humvees, and supplies. Ground forces protect landing and unloading operations. Keep vehicles and personnel clear of the runway. Valkyrie may wave off unsafe approaches. OBJ ECHO - CLEAR KRASNOSTAV Clear the town west of the airfield. Secure its connecting road and search enemy-held facilities for supplies and intelligence linked to the Butcher. OBJ HOTEL - CLEAR KHELM Clear the village south of the airfield. Secure its road junctions and remove positions threatening the southern approaches. OBJ SIERRA - SEIZE KLEN RELAY Locate and secure the enemy radio relay and observation position on the wooded high ground around Klen, between RP CHARLIE and Khelm. Recover communications records before disabling the relay. OBJ JULIET - SECURE OLSHA COURIER SITE Secure the suspected courier staging site in Olsha, northeast of the airfield. Search associated buildings and vehicles for documents and supplies. Detain the courier if positively identified and encountered. His presence is unconfirmed. COORDINATING INSTRUCTIONS Command assigns squad routes and the objective sequence after the defensive phase. Maintain a designated airfield security element. Protect civilians, accept surrender, and secure detainees. Preserve intelligence. Report suspected sightings of the Butcher without abandoning assigned tasks. END STATE The airfield remains secure, reinforcements have arrived, Krasnostav and Khelm are cleared, and the Klen relay and Olsha staging site are secured.

SUSTAINMENT

Deploy with ammunition, medical supplies, and equipment for the airfield defense and follow-on operations. Squad leaders report casualties and supply shortages before departing the airfield. Successful Valkyrie C-130 deliveries simulate armored assets, Humvees, and supplies. Command confirms vehicle types, quantities, and availability after delivery. Command establishes unloading, resupply, and casualty collection points clear of the runway. Medics coordinate treatment and evacuation requests through Command. Evacuation arrangements are TBD. Secure recovered intelligence and detainees for transfer to friendly authorities.

COMMAND & SIGNAL

Tempest 2 Headquarters controls ground operations and coordinates with Valkyrie. Commander, squad assignments, and succession of command are TBD before deployment. Command moves as required. Radio frequencies, alternate communications, and recognition signals will be confirmed during the briefing. Use the designated ground-to-air channel or liaison for Valkyrie coordination. Report enemy contact, perimeter breaches, casualties, supply shortages, runway obstructions, aircraft arrivals, completed unloading, objective clearance, and significant intelligence. Confirm runway and perimeter status before each aircraft approach. Command controls the 30-minute defensive period and authorizes movement to follow-on objectives. Valkyrie determines whether approaches and landings can be completed safely.
